My name is Lucy. I am 39 years old, I have a full time job and I am a mother of a 4-year-old. Since my daughter’s birth, with the weight gain, I started developing severe joint pain. I sought medical help, and the first thing they advised me to do was to take strong medication; some of the possible side effects were frightening. I decided not to take the medication, and started looking for natural ways to ease my pain. I knew Samia for a couple of years already, and once she became a Yoga instructor, I decided to give it a try, because she has a class called gentle Yoga. I gave it a try, and it was great! It helped with my joints, and because it is gentle movements, I did not feel pain afterwards (usually when I exercise I feel a lot of pain in my knees). Often after the Yoga classes we would talk about health and exercise, and Samia told me that she was also studying Ayurveda, which is a traditional Indian system of medicine, which is based on the idea of balance in bodily systems and uses diet, herbal treatment, and yogic breathing. Once she finished her studies, I decided to have a consultation to find out how Ayurveda could help me. Samia gave me a questionnaire to find out what would be my current condition. Once I answered the questions, we had a consultation, and she explained in detail what body type I have, and things that could be beneficial for my overall health. She told me what I should start using in my regular diet to improve my digestive system, and also techniques such as self-massages with a specific oil to alleviate my joint pain. Everything she told me is very simple to do, and also very affordable. One good example is to drink hot water with lime when I wake up. Another thing very interesting is to spice the fruits that I eat in the morning. I have been following this plan for 2 weeks now, and I already can see changes in my daily life. I am more aware of what I eat, when I eat, and why I eat. I am in love with it!
